Bentleyville Shines Brighter.

Bentleyville shines brighter this year as attendees bring a non perishable food item and/or unwrapped toys for others. Also, the sponsors go "all out" in bringing this event to everyone "free of charge"!
I don’t know about you but as a kid, everything seemed bigger, and the lights seemed “brighter” at Christmas. This is a spectacular sight for young and old and I especially enjoy reliving the joy of the holiday through the eyes of my grandkids as they walk (or are held) and look in amazement at all the festive lights!

For more details, visit: http://www.bentleyvilleusa.org/.

Have a great festive holiday this year.

And don’t forget, there still is time to get your own handwritten letter and hand addressed envelope from Santa at: www.terscott.com/santa. It’s a great keepsake that will be appreciated for many years!

Make it a great day!

Ter

Terrific. Energizing. Results!

Highlighting TWIN PORTS LIFE DOT COM Advertiser: Poplar Auto

I'm pleased to see that Poplar Auto is advertising in Twin Ports Life DOT Com

I've known the owners for a very long time as they've continually ordered imprinted promotional products from me throughout the years such as advertising calendars, pens etc. I remember years ago when I had to handwrite all the orders and my capital “L” looked like a capital “C” so when they got their pens, instead of the imprint being: POPLAR AUTO, it was “POPCAR AUTO”. Because they had given so many away before noticing the error, and having many people saving the pens because they thought that it would be a “keepsake” someday they didn’t make me redo the order. I’m thinking that they are just great people.

That’s probably why they’ve been in business now for over 25 years! Wow, that is a milestone. I know they do great work too. Poplar is not far from the Twin Ports and I know many people who live in Poplar and work in Superior or Duluth so when you need collision repair enjoy a short drive and get the work done there.

Here’s a link to their website. Tell ‘em Ter Scott sent you!

You can see their ad at www.twinportslife.com/autos and also on the Announcement/Events page.

Front Page of June 2012 Twin Ports Life

Welcome to June in the Twin Ports. There’s plenty of summertime fun; even before the official
summer solstice get to the Twin Ports on June 20th.

Everyone is running either to Duluth or in Duluth this month.
There is a cougar chase (let me clarify; it is the Congdon
School Mascot run now in its fourth year which also includes
the Kitty “K”; a short run just for kids). There is the Annual Garry
Bjorklund Half Marathon, and the big one… the one that brings
people from all over the world: 36th Annual Grandma’s
Marathon with all of its festivities that go with it.

If you like the Antique Road Show type of thing and don’t mind
driving a bit south of the Twin Ports, Moose Lake Historical
Area Society is offering an opportunity to have your antique
appraised.  Later in the month, the St. Louis County Historical
Society is having Antique Appraisal at the Depot.

Like to laugh or make people laugh? Sir Benedict's Tavern on
the Lake, and
Beaners Central Concert Coffeehouse have
Open Mic nights.

Strolling around Canal Park is always fun, but now you can
enjoy great art too. Check out Blue Lake Gallery, Sivertson's
Gallery and Waters of Superior; all featuring special artists. .
June is Dad’s month so many places offer “Dad’s Day
Specials”. Enjoy
“Wild About Dad” at the zoo, and later at
Zinema 2 enjoy a Father’s Day Brunch and the Duke on the big
screen.

I know a bit about art, and I know what I like; and what I like is
the Annual Park Point Art Fair. And I like Rhubarb when it’s
converted from a pesky plant to a delicious pie at CHUM's 8th
Annual Rhubarb Festival.

As we say “farewell” to June, we can also wave to the
Rhinestone Cowboy at his farewell tour at Big Top
Chautauqua.

With that, I say “farewell” until next month. There is a more
complete listing on the
blog. Also use links to the right of
places where you can get more information about anything
Twin Ports.

May in the Twin Ports

Welcome to May in the Twin Ports. You’ll see that there is always much to do in Duluth/Superior and the surrounding areas at this time of the year.
This month is dedicated to moms and everyone’s celebrating! The zoo has a special event, and area restaurants are offering special things. For instance, the Radisson is putting on a wonderful brunch and the Glensheen is featuring a Mother’s Day buffet!
If motorcycling is your thing, check out the expo at the Black Bear Casino in Carlton.
To tickle your funny bone, Red Green will be in town with his special brand of wit and humor.
Will Bob Dylan be in town this month? Probably not, but we’re celebrating anyway with our Dylan Fest at several drinking establishments. Enjoy a brew and sing: “All I Really Want to Do”.
If all you really want to do is something for a worthwhile cause, why not join in on the Duluth Kidney Walk?
Wow, here’s a way to get some deals on everything gardening. The Duluth Garden Flower Society's Plant Sale is held in the Rose Garden parking lot this month. The Fairlawn is having a garden market where Area garden and landscape centers and local artisans will offer their wares to make your home and garden the envy of your northland neighbors!
There are several Memorial Day Parades most complete with marching bands, colorful floats, and more.
There’s so much more that I can’t place everything here. Click on the links at www.twinportslife.com  for more information.
Make it a great day!
Ter Scott!

A great life demands a great dinner

Life in the Twin Ports is great; especially when we have so many great places to eat. Last night I treated my girl to a wonderful dinner at Blackwoods in Proctor.

After ordering a white zin wine for her, and a Black Forest Ale (or something like that- it was close to an Amber Bock) we ordered the Bulldog bites which are sautéed beef tips on a blanket of crispy onions and more. These were absolutely delicious and served in a quantity that makes it a meal in itself. Deborah ordered the beef tips which were smothered in a great tasting creamy mushroom sauce and I ordered the full rack of ribs. The ribs were good but I’m so biased because I find that it is so hard to beat Eddies in Superior Wisconsin; but I am always looking for a contender.

I recommend Blackwoods for any dining occasion. The food and service is always great and the prices as reasonable as anywhere. .

Ter Scott

PS. The people at Blackwoods certainly know how to market as they offer a “loyalty” card that earns points, and they never forget you birthday!

Two places I promote to eat at, in Duluth Minnesota

Recently I ate at a few places in Duluth and I must say that I'm impressed. About a week ago I was with a client at Perkins on London Road and had the lunch special: tomato basil soup and a (I think it was a) patty melt roast beef sandwich; wow, lots of meat and filled with flavor.

Then on Sunday, January 8th after presenting my live "voiceover" version presentation of my Winter Boy screenplay at the VFW137 in West Duluth, I treated to voiceover cast to a treat at the Duluth Grill. I must say that Tom and the family have really made that place into something. Much of the food is organic and they even grow some themselves. I'm always impressed about the care they take in not only the quality and taste of their delicious offerings, but also in the very nice presentation of everything they bring to the table.

That's it for now. If you are hungry for lunch, try out the Perkins soup and sandwich. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Duluth Grill is always a winner.
